John Hambleton: Vintage Agricultural Tools, Domestic Appliances and Trade Implements
Some of you will remember a really entertaining evening with John about 6 years ago. He started work at the age of 16, as a joiner in one of the mills in Langley, near Macclesfield. He has always had an interest in old tools and farm implements and has collected a great many over the years. As
farming practices changed these became readily available and John found they could easily be picked up at farm sales and traction engine rallies.
John is in great demand to give his talks and quizzes and his fee always goes to the Leprosy Mission.
This talk will take the form of a quiz so we can try and guess the original uses of these fascinating objects before he tells us all about them. There will be a mix of domestic and household appliances and small industrial and farming implements to have a look at and handle.
Bring along any vintage tools and have a chat with John about them. Cost is £4 including refreshments, provided halfway through this meeting.
No need to book, just turn up – and don’t forget – this is an afternoon meeting!
