Community Archaeology in the Peak District National Park  with Dr Catherine Parker Heath
Peak District 2

Wednesday April 5th at 7.30 in Warslow Village Hall – doors open at 7 for refreshments.

So what is ‘Community Archaeology?  It is archaeology for everyone!  Catherine will tell us what it is, how it works in practice and her experiences of working with communities and volunteers as well as future plans. One of the projects she has worked with is the Tudor Farming Interpretation Group at Under Whitle Farm, Sheen where visitors and volunteers from schools, mental health and well-being groups and others have been able to take part in excavation work or experience life as Tudor farmers.

Catherine is co-owner of a business, Enrichment Through Archaeology, and works part-time as Community and Conservation archaeologist with the Peak District National Park.  Many History Live regulars will know her from her previous job as the South West Peak Cultural Heritage Officer responsible for managing the Barns and Buildings and Small Heritage Adoption Projects in the area.

I’d also like to remind you about our two coach trips. The first is on June 23rd when we have arranged a visit to Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet in Sheffield which includes a talk and look round.  The second is on July 19th to Little Moreton Hall nr Congleton.  Lots of you said that you would be interested in these so I am now taking bookings – do let me know if you would like to come along.

As usual, if you are able to bake for any of our meetings please let Elspeth know. [email protected] or 01298 83282
