Staffordshire Hoards: 1831 – 2012
Staffordshire Hoard

Wednesday September 4th at 7.30 (doors open 7pm) Warslow Village Hall, SK17 0JL

For our first talk of the 24/25 season we are really pleased to welcome Steve Booth back to History Live.  Many of you will remember the enthusiastic talk Steve gave to us about the Tudors a few years ago at Hollinsclough. This time he will tell us about hoards that have been found throughout Staffordshire – some of the most valuable finds in the UK have been unearthed in the county!

Several of the discoveries have been very local – the Leekfrith hoard, for example, which was found by a couple of detectorists in 2013.  Steve will tell us about this and other hoards including of course the famous Staffordshire Hoard found in 2009.  He says mysteriously that there have been two more very local discoveries but that you will have to come to the meeting to find out more!!

Steve will also tell us what to do if you happen to dig up a hoard in your garden!

Doors will open at 7pm to give you time to have a drink, a cake and a chat! No need to book – just turn up. Entrance is just £4 including refreshments.

*** Thank you so much to those of you who bring cakes to our meetings. If you would like to do the same please let Elspeth know by the weekend before the Wednesday meetings.
